The Problem It Solves

Portfolio companies run AI pilots in isolation, one department at a time, and every lesson learned stays trapped where it started. Portco A pays to learn what Portco B already knows. No shared governance, no shared measurement, no reusable playbook. And when the fund raises on an AI story, the LPs ask a question nobody can answer with evidence.

Lower-middle-market firms rarely have dedicated technology operating capacity at any single portfolio company, let alone at the fund. The AI Operating System is that capacity, built once, deployed repeatedly.

What It Is, and What It Is Not

Measurement

Every deployment is translated to the number the fund underwrites: EBITDA impact at the portco, comparable readiness scores across the portfolio, and an AI narrative the GP can defend in an LP meeting because it is reported, not promised.

The framework is new; the discipline behind it is not. We will not put a portfolio-level result on this page until a design partner has produced one.

Design Partner Track

CCA is building the AI Operating System with a small number of GP design partners: firms whose next transaction or existing portfolio gives the framework a real proving ground, and who want a hand in shaping the operating model, the portfolio governance structure, and the deployment playbook.

Design partners get the work at design-partner terms and direct influence over what the framework becomes. CCA gets the receipts. That is the honest trade.

Honest Answers

Is this just a ChatGPT rollout with governance slides?

No. Tool licenses are the smallest part of the problem. The work is deciding which workflows justify autonomy, putting controls and audit around them, measuring the EBITDA line they move, and packaging the method so the next portco starts from the playbook instead of from zero. If all you want is licenses and a lunch-and-learn, you do not need us.

What do we own at the end?

Everything. The governance model, the playbook, the measurement cadence, and the documentation live with the fund and its portcos. No lock-in engineered into the relationship. The point of an operating system is that it runs without us.

Why a GP-level engagement instead of per-portco?

Because per-portco is what everyone already does, and it is why every lesson gets paid for repeatedly. One engagement at the fund level means the second deployment is cheaper than the first, the third is cheaper than the second, and a new acquisition inherits the whole stack on day one.

What happens at exit?

A governed, documented AI program is exit material. Buyer diligence on AI is getting sharper every quarter: autonomy boundaries, model governance, data provenance. A portco that inherits the Control Plane walks into that diligence with the answers written, which is the difference between AI as a multiple story and AI as a discount.
